Activities
Kayaking
The fun begins right on the beach in front of Condominios Pilar/Bahia Delfin
where you can rent kayaks from San Carlos Aquatic Adventures www.scaamexico.com
Our feature attraction is the pod of bottlenose dolphins which resides in our bay and makes
several passes a day for the convenience of our guests.
It is common to be able to kayak out to the pod, stay with them, and observe them frolicking around your kayaks.
If you’re inclined to swim with the dolphins, you may get even closer depending on their mood.

The next adventure with kayaks is a short 15 minute trip to the mouth of
Estero del Soldado, which was dedicated as a “national preserve” in June 2006.
This shallow estuary is a great place to get “up close and personal” with the
many varieties of shore birds that inhabit the mangrove lined estuary.
Certain varieties of egrets and herons inhabit this estuary year round,
but undoubtedly the best months are December through April when
the estuary is home to the real “snowbirds” that have migrated from Canada
and the Western U.S. for the winter.

The next kayaking adventure is to the nearby islands of Isla Blanca
(nesting home of Yellow Footed Gulls) and nearby Isla Ventana which is a roosting site for the
rare Blue- Footed Booby as seen below. The trip to Isla Blanca takes about 45 minutes,
with another 20 minutes for Isla Ventana. This trip is best undertaken early in the morning
before the late morning wind and swells sometimes make the trip uncomfortable. May and
early June is the best time to see the young chicks of the Yellow Footed Gulls which
have their nests back in the cave areas of Isla Blanca.

There is also clear water and excellent snorkeling around Isla Blanca,
and along with many varieties of reef fish you may see one of these creatures:

Other Watersports: Windsurfing gear and a Sunfish sailboat are
available for rental from the beach in front of Condominios Pilar/Bahia Delfin. A Hobie Cat
is also available during the peak tourist seasons.
Marina San Carlos Activities - The main marina is a short 15 minute trip
into San Carlos and from there you can depart on sportfishing,
diving, whale watching (season dependent),
and sunset or nature cruises. Team Margarita Sportfishing www.scaamexico.com offers two charter boats
for sportfishing and sunset or nature cruises which include a cruise past the shoreline of the
Pilar/Delfin condos and include the two islands of Isla Blanca and Isla Ventana . . . an excellent place from which
to view the magnificent sunsets of San Carlos and the background of the Tetakawi mountain ridge.
